ok, a little help?
It's, well, that time of the month for my girlfriend, and I thought i was smart enough to keep a bookmark of the woot comic on the subject...

can anybody provide a convient link to the "uterus has grown teeth and is trying to chew its way out" strip?

this was hard to find
I mean it.

Had to resort to the internet wayback machine to even find a trace that the comic website jad ever existed.

Not one of the guest artists who had links to woot or the strips up, had a link to here.

As for the orriginal page, I know, long gone.

I'm just glad there's some trace, and comunity left, people don't belive me when i refrance some of the strips or say it's the best webcomic I had ever read.

First thing I download once i get out of modem land, is the archive file...

...hey, y'all are still here!

OKAY SO. In light of the facts that:

1. Keenspace is really lame and

2. Dreamhost just went batshit fucking loco judging from this monthly newsletter I just got (and Dreamhost has the best update newsletters ever. I think November's was written entirely in haiku) that basically says "HAY GUYS WE JUST QUADRUPLED DISK SPACE ON ALL ACCOUNTS LOL!!!," which means I now have more web space than any human being could ever possibly use

...sometime in the next few days I will be packing my w00t-comic.net backup off to work where we have T1 and parking the w00t site back on some real web space. And maybe making that .cbr I was thinking about making way back when.

The new URL will be http://w00t.chaobell.net . DO NOT GO THERE NOW. THERE IS NOTHING THERE. HONEST. I'll post again to let y'all know when it's all settled in.

In the meantime, there is chaobell.net proper, which is perpetually under construction but has some fic and some art and some Photoshop brushes to leech, and there is Bridge of Thread, which has no set update schedule but is normally updated at least once a week unless I have to model hairy pieces of scenery or there's a major holiday or I die or something.

There's also this thing I'm kinda thinking about doing... kind of an alternate-universe w00t 2.0 one-shot. My sk1llz are not yet m4d enough to do it the way I want it done, so I can't guarantee any timetable on it. Just... watch this space.

All the best to chaobell, and my sincerest hopes of safety to her and all those others evacuating Pasadena, due to Hurricane Rita.

Life Imitating Art
I suppose some of us have already seen this?

Old Grandma Hardcore

It's not a pr0n link, honest!

Rather, it's a blog about the author's "experiences with Grandma, the video-game playing queen of her age-bracket and weight class. She will beat any PS2, XBox, GameCube, etc., console game put in front of her, just like she always has. Her favorite game of all time was Final Fantasy VII, her current task is reaching 100% in tour mode of Outlaw Golf 2. These are her stories. She is absolutely real. She lives in Cleveland."

Important Shit
A few things. First, the schedule has been sucking, and I'm sorry. I'm aware of this. I was tempted to just drag out the old vectors and slap a strip together that way, just to give y'all something to look at, but no. I'm not going to do that. I'm going to do the last strips right.

Yeah, I did say "the last strips." Once I wrap up this storyline, the strip will, for all pratical purposes, end. I may come back and do a few tying-up-loose-ends specials at some point in the future, but once this arc wraps up, w00t is done.

There are a lot of reasons. First and foremost, because it stopped being fun. I'm sorry, that's sad and it sucks, but it's the truth. I don't enjoy it anymore. I don't look forward to drawing w00t like I used to. I thought switching to a more challenging style might snap me out of the funk I've been in with it, but it didn't. And it shows. As I've said before, I'd rather do no strip than a half-ass strip. So... I will do no strip.

Second, there are other projects I want to do. There's "Becky's Doll," which I really would like to finish and actually put in dead-tree format. There's also another one I'm dying to knock out... hey, Silent Hill fen? How does a Silent Hill comic with a well-written script, a canon-logical plot, and decent art sound? How about one created by someone who's actually PLAYED THE GAMES? It's in the works. I'm writing the script and tinkering with art now, and having reread the first two books of Dying Inside recently, I think it's safe to say my book will pwn IDW's crap. There are a handful of test renders on my DevArt site, if you're interested in a sneaky peeky. Yeah, I'm using heavily post-processed Poser renders for the art, but by God it works. It looks great and I'm really excited and rarin' to go on it.

I'll leave the site up until it dies in August or whenever it expires, and then there'll still be the Keenspace mirror, and I'll throw up a warning when w00t-comic.net is about to croak. If there's enough demand for it, I may zip up the entire archive into a .cbz and make it available via BitTorrent or something.

Also, I'm taking down the CafePress store at the end of next month. If there's something you want, get it now.

Finally, those of you who've sent me dough via PayPal are getting it back, because PayPal is being fucking stupid. See, here's the deal. PayPal requires a bank account to confirm before it will even let you accept a payment. Fine. I have a bank account. But for some reason, PayPal does not like it, will not confirm it, and will not let me use it to gain Verified status, which I need to be able to accept payments. They claim it is because my bank does not accept ACH transfers, which is complete and total and utter BULLSHIT because right there on my bank's website are INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING UP ACH TRANSFERS FROM PAYPAL OR ANOTHER BANK ACCOUNT! StormPay seems to be able to dump money into that same account just fine, what the fuck is PayPal's problem!?

But wait--it gets better!

PayPal's "fix--" as suggested by no fewer than four "customer service" reps there--is for me to go get a new account with another bank.

Ahaha. I'm thinking NO.

Fuck PayPal. I'll keep it for buying shit off eBay, and that's IT.

Which is, uh, kind of a moot point considering I've also taken the donation button off the site, because there's no reason to beg for dough when I'm not doing anything. If you insist on giving me stuff, kindly take a look at my Renderosity wishlist. Most of the shit on it is under twenty bucks, and I would love it and you forever.

Actually, I'm, uh... making some changes in the art. I think that may have been my problem lately. I'm still using some bits from 2002--hell, Boss's body hasn't changed once since his first Illustrator-drawn appearance. Neither has Jay's. And some of the heads are the "new" shape and some are the "old" shape and AUGH CLEAN HOUSE THROW OUT OLD CRAP.

The heads are going to still look like the w00tpeople heads you know, but with actual noses. And hair. And better ears. And--well, here, look.

The bodies, though... major changes. No more copying and pasting of people standing around with their arms at their sides, for one thing. I am so fucking tired of copying and pasting people standing around with their arms at their sides, I've been doing this long enough that I can no longer use "I DUN KNOW BETTER OMG" as an excuse, and it is high time to start drawing this damn strip instead of pasting this damn strip.

One other thing. You may have noticed a lack of color in the little test Sarah head above. That's another change, and probably the biggest one. The Illustrator-n00b way I've been handling the coloring till now is simply not going to work any more. See, what I've been doing is making all the bits and pieces colored shapes. Like, the blank head is one shape, the hair is one shape, the shirt is about three or four shapes. Which is fine for people who are just going to, once again, stand around with their arms at their sides, but it won't work for shit with the new stuff. Remember way back when? When I was farting around with the semi-realistic style that crashed and burned? That Illustrator-n00b coloring is THE biggest mistake I made with that.

So now I'm going to do just the "inking" in Illustrator, and the coloring in either Photoshop or Painter. Instead of the Illustrator-n00b colored shapes, it's going to be plain black lines on a plain white background and that, my friends, is probably the closest I'm ever going to come to a hand-drawn w00t.

Now, something to tide you over until I pop out a new strip (which, swear to God, won't be much longer). It's only about a third finished, and I wasn't going to release it until it was really finished, and I don't know when the hell it'll be finished because I got swept up in other shit and haven't touched it in months, and it's about as far removed from w00t as it could possibly be, but here you go:
